Central team aims for Digicel Cup competition

Boe Daera, was voted in unanimously as the new Chairman, with Interim Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Ravu , and Sisia Morea and Jack Kedea as board directors.

Another interesting agenda was the combined resolution for the Central Chiefs team who were bidding to enter the NRL Competition deciding to come together and work alongside the Lagatois team to enter only one team to represent the people of Central.

This was made clear during the first initial board meeting on Monday in Port Moresby.

Ravu said that despite attempts to solicitor support or pledges from all the local MPs in Central province, they will look at avenues to raise funds for the teams fee of K400,000, to be paid to the NRL Competition before the end of January 2018.

Ravu and Interim Chairman Daera have further agreed for a naming rights sponsor to be secured before affiliations to the PNGNRL open.

The team has so far scouted over 150 players from the Southern Rugby Nines competition which will be then trimmed down to at least 25 men before the end of this month.

The 25 are anticipated to take in the competition if their bid is successful.
